Crux Tools / Dataset Products

What do you receive?

Crux dataset requests can range from source data for independent processing to showcase-oriented capture routes. The final delivery is confirmed after Crux reviews the target, rig, timing and requested processing level.

Crux Source

For independent processing.

A source-oriented route is for clients who want to process the data themselves or use it as a learning dataset.

  • Capture plan and target context.
  • Structured source dataset route.
  • Useful for PixInsight practice, education or internal processing.
  • Best for users who want control over the final image.

Crux Reference

For reliable project material.

A reference route is intended for a more complete dataset with clearer capture planning and practical delivery expectations.

  • More deliberate capture plan and dataset target.
  • Useful for serious processing, comparison or technical review.
  • Better suited to repeatable public-data products.
  • Good middle route for structured but not fully showcase-oriented work.

Typical delivery language

What may be included.

  • Capture package brief and target context.
  • Dataset estimate: hours, nights, subframes and storage footprint.
  • Filter route and processing expectation.
  • Digital delivery route or processing workstation handoff.
  • Notes on mosaic layout or panel-vector execution reference where applicable.

What is confirmed later

Not automatic.

  • Exact capture dates and scheduling priority.
  • Final panel count and overlap for complex mosaics.
  • Final processing level, file format and delivery size.
  • Retention window, USB handoff or guest workstation requirements.
  • Any quote, booking or observatory commitment.
Question
How Crux handles it
Do I get raw frames?
Depends on the agreed route. Source-oriented requests are most aligned with independent processing.
Do I get calibrated masters?
The Capture Package Builder defaults to calibrated and stacked masters as a clear starting expectation, but Crux confirms final delivery after review.
Do I get a final processed image?
Showcase requests are closest to a processed visual outcome. Final processing scope is confirmed after Crux reviews the target and intent.
Can I request a mosaic?
Yes. Mosaic Planner exports a visual SVG and panel-vector reference, but Crux may adjust the execution route before scheduling.
How do I submit?
All tools route into the Capture Package Builder. The builder creates the final package and then sends it through the contact form.

Planning principle

Dataset pages explain intent and deliverables; the Capture Package Builder creates the actual request. Crux reviews the request before confirming timing, scope and delivery.
